A mentor must have at least three years of teaching experience.
It is preferred that a mentor should be at least 3-5 years older than the mentee.
The mentor should guide the mentee in their new role; not evaluate. The mentor should keep in mind that there is a difference between mentoring (guiding and coaching) and evaluating.
The mentor should respect the mentee at all times, and respect a different point of view if one arises.
